THAKUR RAM SINGH JI
Thakur Ram Singhji was born on 3rd September 1898 in a village known as Manoharpura in a Raulot Bhati family of Rajputs. His father Thakur Mangal Singh was a very religious and devoted person. He served the Jaipur state in the capacity of the ‘Guardian of the Fort’ (kiledar). The then King, Maharaj Madho Singhji had lot of regards for him. Thakur Ram Singhji’s mother was a very religious and pious lady. Thakur Ram Singhji was married at the age of seventeen to Smt. Gopal Kunwarji, daughter of Thakur Adi Sal Singh. Thakur Adi Sal Singhji had accepted Raja Ajit Singh of Khetri as his Master and used to spend time in his company. This enabled him also to have the benefit of the satsang of Swami Vivekananda who was a dear friend of Raja Ajit Singh.
Thakur Ram Singhji was employed in the Police Dept. of Jaipur state. He joined as a constable and due to his honesty, sincerity and hard work could rise up to the post of “Thanedar’ (Station In charge or Sub-Inspector of Police). One Sri Kishan Chandra Bhargava who was PWI in the
Railways gave him a photograph of Pujya Lalaji Sahib. He was posted in Palsana police station those days. He started meditating on that photograph and started receiving spiritual radiations. He could not go to meet Pujya Lalaji Sahib due to not able to get few days off. He wrote a letter to Pujya Lalaji Sahib expressing his inability to personally visit him. Quick came the reply from Lalaji Sahib that he himself was coming to Jaipur and would meet him then.
A few days later Lalaji Sahib arrived and when he first saw Thakur Ram Singh, he remarked, “Ram Singh, you are exactly the same as I had seen you.” This indicated their connection and the practice of Pujya Lalaji Sahib to visit astrally the persons to whom he was attached and that too very frequently. Thakur Ram Singhji belonged to Lalaji Sahib who had already accepted him even without seeing or meeting him in the present life. Lalaji Sahib stayed in Jaipur for three days and during this stay he also visited Manoharpura. Thakur Ram Singhji had once mentioned his condition of complete merger in the divine spring emanating from Pujya Lalaji Sahib after his first meeting with him.
When he was returning in a tonga (horse-cart), the tongawala recited a couplet (25/9):
अजब तेरे इश्क का यह असर देखता हूँ, कि तरक्की पे दर्दे जिगर देखता हूँ ।
समाया है जबसे तू मेरी नज़र में, जिधर देखता हूँ तुझे देखता हूँ ।।
Strange effect of your love, I see.
Pain in my heart is on increase.
Ever since I have seen you,
Wherever I see, I see only you.
He started feeling himself in the words of tongawala, “I see as my gurulord used to see, walk as he used to, etc.” This transformed him to the form of guru. At the time of departure of Pujya Lalaji Sahib he presented a bouquet of roses to Lalaji Sahib who then blessed him, “Your fragrance will spread like these roses.” Before retiring from the police service in the year 1944 at the age of 46 years he devoted himself completely for the mission of his Master. His devotion to his Master was matchless. He left this physical body on Makar Sankranti 14th Jan 1971.
